Hey Mama! Print Schoolhouse Planner *Review

Hey Mama! Schoolhouse Planner 2016-2017 Review

The Old Schoolhouse prints Hey Mama! Print Schoolhouse Planner 2016-2017 just in time for summer school planning. Many traditional home schooling parents, August through May, do much of their planning in the summer months. This planner is a great way to get started with your plans early.

Though the Hey Mama! Planner doesn't start until July, you can start planning for when your school year starts, which with this planner could be as early as July. For us, we tend toward year round schooling and more than likely will be schooling in July.

This planner begins July 2016 and goes through June 2017. This is perfect for those year around home schoolers. I can't pick up in June right now because I don't have last years planner, but this next summer, I will be all set to keep planning.

Note sections on each month, as well as the actual two page layout of the calendar for 'at a glance' planning.

After this section is the weekly planning. I really like how these aren't already labeled with the dates. This allows us to  motor through at our own pace, taking a week off when we need, and not wasting those pages in the planner.

If you are into goal planning, this is a great planner for you! There are pages for Monthly, Semester, and Yearly Goals. Not only for educational goals but also spiritual, physical, personal talents, life skills, financial, and relational. All of these work together for a great school year.

There are 5 pages for attendance, with boxes to check for the 180 days (typically required in each state). I love check off boxes! So much easier than keeping track of the days on a calendar. I have always had an interest in celebrating the 100 day of school, but I never keep track of it well enough to celebrate! This attendance chart will be super easy to use. I am going to actually sticky tack it to the wall so we can check off our days in plain site. With the spiral ring planner, it is easy to pull out a page when you need it.

The back of the planner contains some great pages to save critical information. There is a curriculum planning page where you can record subject, grade level and even price. There is a homeschool contact list to keep track of those mentors or mentees that you have been meaning to keep in touch with, but can't remember where you put their number!
One page I really like and plan to use is the writing prompts page. We start our day with Bible, and then after that we always have a writing prompt for journal time. Additionally there are story starters to use for journal time, or just creative writing.

Fact loving teacher? There are some fun dates and facts in these last few pages. The Thirteen Colonies by date, Timeline of Inventions, U.S Presidents and Their Wives, Branches of the Government, United States and Capitals.

Finally there is information on how to create a transcript. That is really important for your high school students.

All of this in the Hey Mama! Schoolhouse Planner. Perfect planning tool for the home school family.
