Title: The Bali Mystery

Subtitle: Amelia Moore Detective Series

Author: Linda Weaver Clarke

Publisher: Red Mountain Shadows Publishing

Publication & Release Date: April 24, 2014

Summary of the Book: Amelia Moore, the founder of the Moore Detective Agency, specializes in missing persons.  Her cases have taken her to some very interesting places and put her in some dangerous situations, but she always solves the case. With the help of Rick Bonito, her sometime partner, her business is flourishing.

When Mrs. Brody hires Amelia and Rick to find her missing brother, they find themselves in Bali, Indonesia. They are mystified why her brother quit his job, put his home up for sale, and ran off to this mysterious and exotic island without telling a soul.

My Thoughts:
I was thrilled to hear that Linda Weaver Clarke was starting a cozy mystery series. I love cozy mysteries and even better, clean language ones.
Amelia is a strong character, but guarded in her relationships. She is good at being a detective and has natural skills that people are drawn to help her. I had never heard of Bali before this book! What an intriguing place. All of the details sure make it sound like somewhere I would love to vacation. Amelia however isn't on vacation, she is off to find Mrs. Brody's brother who has suddenly disappeared. Amelia asks help from her sometimes associate Rick to travel with her. How can they be in such a romantic place like Bali without starting to have feelings for each other?
Linda takes the relationship slowly, something I really appreciate. She helps the couple find their friendship with each other first, before any romantic feelings take place.
I enjoyed how the book had people of different nationalities and faiths coming together and breaking stereotypes and racial barriers.
The mystery flowed easily and was well paced.

Another series I loved by Linda Weaver Clarke is her Adventures of John and Julia Evans series. These are all set in magnificent places and hold great, twist turning mysteries!

What is a “cozy” mystery? It should be a G-rated story with no swearing or sex. It has many twists and turns and must have very likeable characters so that it can be turned into a seriesA cozy mystery focuses on the plot and characters, and the main character is usually an intelligent woman.
