F is for The Story of Ferdinand #atozchallenge

Blogging Unit Study ideas using Five in a Row Curriculum Books from A to Z

I am joining literally hundreds of other bloggers to blog through the Alphabet in the month of April (Sunday we get a break!) with a Themed month. This is my first time joining in and I am excited for the challenge.

 F is for Ferdinand
The Story of Ferdinand
by Munro Leaf
 (from Goodreads)
A true classic with a timeless message, The Story of Ferdinand has enchanted readers since it was first published in 1936. All the other bulls would run and jump and butt their heads together. But Ferdinand would rather sit and smell the flowers. So what will happen when our pacifist hero is picked for the bullfights in Madrid? This new edition contains the complete original text of the story and the original illustrations with watercolor tones added

If there is a country we can study along with our letter I tend to lean toward it! This story takes place in Spain and was a great opportunity to study the culture and see where bull fighting originated from.
The lapbook from homeschool share was an excellent addition.

We of course spent a little bit of time on cows as well. Having been on a farm the kids really knew quite a bit so we didn't stay there long. It is an excellent trail to go on though if your children do not know about bulls. Ferdinand was a unique bull for sure.
