Hello, Jesus loves you shares the love of Christ in 8 different languages. The word Hello is shared on each page from a different country including;
Spain, China, France, Germany, Italy, Portugal, US including Hawaii
The book is geared toward preschoolers and early elementary where they can quickly pick up the word Hello in a different language. Jesus loves you is always in English. It would have been fun from an adults standpoint to see Jesus loves you in that language too, but that would have bumped up the book to a more elementary level and would have caused some confusion for the younger kids. I think Harvelene knew exactly what she was doing in creating the book the way she did, she was a Kindergarten teacher for more than 30 years.
The illustrations are outstanding. The focus page simply says 'Ni hao, Jesus loves you" and from that we are able to see by the illustrations exactly where the country is and what language is spoken (if we didn't know). There are country icons and symbols, and the children are wearing traditional attire to that country. I love how the illustrator was able to make the children look native to their country, but appear all the same otherwise. Just like Jesus sees them.
This was a fun book for beginning to share with little ones about other cultures, and including right away that Jesus loves them all!
