Personalized VISA Prepaid Debit Card from CARD.com

I have recently sworn off Credit Cards. I am tired of having the desire to shop and going with that, knowing I can just pay for it later. Well guess what, later comes and I don't want to pay for it them either! The best way for me to budget and balance my money is to keep track of it and not delay payment.
There are times however where it would be helpful to have a debit style car, at the gas pump for instance. I know take my cash inside and have to pre-pay each time I pump. Not that it is a huge deal, but it does require me to have cash on hand and to make sure I don't leave little kids in the car alone. It was much easier to swipe a card and get your gas.
I prefer to not have a debit card with my bank because I am very forgetful and won't write it down and will forget I spent it.

I have found the perfect solution from CARD.Com

This is a debit card, like the one from your bank, and you can use it EVERYWHERE Visa is accepted -- except it's way cooler and cuter than your crumby old bank card. 1000 different choices in the card design!
I have been on a Cozy Mystery reading kick lately so I chose the first lady of Cozy Mysteries Nancy Drew!

This card is not a gift card so you can't use it like that, instead it is a reusable card that you can use instead of your bank debit card. I personally don't have one of those so this works great in the stead.

The card is free for 30 days, then will carry a monthly fee of $5.95. Compared to many other debit card companies that is a very small fee, and compared to credit card fees, amazingly low price. If you keep a $800 balance you will not have a fee. I personally would like to see that minimum be more like $200. I know I won't be able to keep such a high balance to avoid the fees. But.. I rather pay a monthly fee of $5.95 than have my credit card go out of control and pay interest.

I used my Visa Prepaid Card at Dollar Tree, simply by sliding it through the checkout credit card slot, chose credit card (don't choose debit) and was good to go. Not any hitch at all. I also tried it at Walmart on the new self checkouts. Again it had the place to slide the card and chose credit and off we go. How easy is that! I have tried gift cards before that you had to know the amount on the card to use, what a pain.  This is just as easy as a credit card, just not as risky for overspending.

  1. I love this! It is such a great idea especially if you're wanting to start a teenager out with a debit card.
