Melt in Your Mouth Cookies *Recipe

Last time we went for a walk we stopped by our Mennonite neighbors house to say Hi. The kids were eating cookies and shared them with us. They were made by the 10 year old daughter and were wonderful! I asked her for the recipe and she made a xerox copy for me. I finally had the chance to try them today. Mine are a little dryer than hers, next time may cut back the flour just a titch. This is the best Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe I have tried. Mine typically end up flat, so a great improvement for me!

1 cup butter
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup white sugar
2 eggs
1 cup oil
2 tsp. vanilla
4 1/2 cups flour
3 tsp cream of tarter
1 1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
2 cups chocolate chips

Cream butter and sugars. Add eggs, oil and vanilla; mix well. Stir in dry ingredients. Add chocolate chips. Drop by teaspoonfuls on cookie sheets. Bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 mins until just starting to turn golden brown.

Makes approx 5 dozen

  1. Wow it makes 5 dozen! I would have to make some and freeze them - or half the recipe. Looks delicious.

  3. I'll have to give this a try. I've never made ccc with oil. I know cream of tarter makes for some awesome sugar cookies.
