Treatments and Services Provided by Day Spas

Disclosure : This was a paid promotional post

Pennsylvania day spas provide their guests with different beauty, health, and relaxation services. What makes a day spa stand apart from a regular beauty salon is the availability of a swimming pool, hot tub, sauna, and similar facilities, which clients can use before or after their beauty treatments. These types of facilities are also available at a destination spa, but the latter caters more to travelers, providing accommodation in addition to its spa treatments. At a day spa, working people can relax without having to leave town.

What to Expect

You should arrive at a day spa 10 to 15 minutes early, to have enough time to prepare for your treatment. You might not receive your full treatment time if you arrive late, as most spas book clients back to back. The spa will usually provide robes, slippers, and various grooming and hygiene products in the locker rooms, helping the guests make an easy transition from their busy routines into a relaxing spa mood. For the same reason, light snacks and refreshments are usually served.

Provided Services

Among the services a typical day spa provices are various forms of massage, facials, manicure, pedicure, body wraps, and aromatherapy, among others. Some spas have cold plunge pools, which are used in conjuction with a sauna or a steam room. Alternating the hot and cold temperatures helps improve one’s circulation and detoxify the body. An infrared sauna is becoming a popular feature in many spas. It uses infrared light to heat the body similarly to the way steam is used in traditional saunas, but in a cleaner environment. Most spas also feature a unique shower experience, where one can adjust the showerhead pressure for relaxation or massage.

Timing Matters

Make sure to set aside at least two to three hours to fully enjoy your spa experience. All too often, Pennsylvania day spas see clients who rush in after their busy day, spend half an hour trying to relax, and leave half an hour later, barely getting to enjoy their treatment. Find some time in your schedule when you know you will not be rushed and can get the most relaxation for your money.
