Chats on the Farmhouse Porch #90

Everyday Ruralty

Life has been hectic.. it often is with a family of 6 kids. Missed you all on the chat last week, just couldn't find the time. Today is later than I like, but getting it done even if it is a short chat!

Do you prefer to drive or be driven?

That is actually a hard question. I prefer to be driven if it is a competent driver. If it is than I am fine. If it isn't someone who takes great care to ensure my sanity, then I prefer to dry myself.

What's your favorite kind of jam, jelly, or preserve?
Wild Blackberry Jelly!!
I just made wild violet jelly, and the color is just gorgeous on it!

Do you have any special plans for this spring or summer?

My oldest is graduating high school this year. Our first homeschool graduate, so we are having a great party for him in June. DH is making a hog roaster as I type to kick off the food portion of the get together. Other than that I hope to explore some of KY with short day trips.

Lots of folks are becoming aware of issues with food. There are many articles, books, and movies on topics like allergies, GMO, pesticide use, bad or no labeling, over processed foods, foods from other countries that may not have high standards, and many more topics. What concerns you the most? If nothing concerns you, have a cookie and skip to the next question.

The pesticides, artificial ingredients and chemicals that aren't natural for our bodies. We grow alot of our own food, and I really watch labels. The fewer ingredients the better in my thought.

Do you use nail polish often? Finger nails, piggies, or both?

This ties in nicely with the previous question. I have only started using nail polish again, and only use the ones that are eco friendly and don't have nasty things in them, like formaldehyde.  I have reviewed for a few companies that sell excellent nail polish that isn't bad for our skin or breathing in the fumes.

  3. They have some great eco friendly polishes, but they are a bit pricey. I have less variety because of that. I've never heard of violet jelly. Hmm! I hope you have a good week.
