BookLingual Bilingual Books for Young Readers *Giveaway

BookLingual Books is designed to help children learn and understand a new language through reading. These books are designed for ages 2 through 8. There will be 32 books total in the series and releases mid march. I received 6 ebooks to review. We have friends from church who are adopting a sibling group from Costa Rica and I thought these books would be helpful for my children to get to know a little bit of Spanish to use while getting to know them.

The illustrated ebooks have the sentence in English, then underneath it in Spanish (harder words are phonetically sounded out for you). I don't know much Spanish at all so it was very helpful to have some of the words sounded out for me!

The best way to read these books would be with an ereader or  ipad. I only have the computer to utilize the books, but can see the usefulness of having something in your lap to read with more of a book feel to it.

There is a Parents Guide included and recommends reading a book 3 to 5 days a week for consistency in learning a new language. Reading to the younger children, and having your older children read it to you. They won't be learning a complete language, but will become familiar with vocabulary and terms to get them started on an early path to learning a second language.

     Bilingual Benny Likes Too Much
Koala Benny likes some things, but doesn't like others. he likes to play outside, but not take a bath. He likes to make good grades, but doesn't like to study. He likes to practice Karate (above) but doesn't like to get hit! 32 pages of reading, and games at the end of the story. Games like choosing the best word and repeating Spanish phrases.

Come to the Zoo has 14 pages of reading and introduces many of the common animal names in Spanish. This is a level one reader for the earlier ages to read on their own. The child can learn to read in Spanish and transfer that knowledge to vocal skills.

The four other books included in this 6 ebook set are

Bree and Bee Can't Share
Oh No,I'm Sick!
Grandma Cooks a Grand Dinner
Can You Guess What I am?

Each book gives a variety of Spanish words for the young reader to explore! I felt this was a great way to introduce Spanish to my 5 and 8 year old. I hope we can use some of it when we meet our new friends from Costa Rica!

  1. We have tried a language DVD but it was just a small sample of different languages. It didn't really work for my kids. I'd love for them to learn multiple languages not just one.

  2. I'm trying to now, but it's tough going. I took Spanish in school but am not fluent. But it's progressing some!
