Safe in His Arms by Colleen Coble

About Safe in His Arms

Sometimes it takes a stranger to see you as you really are.
Under Texas Stars, Book 2
Born and raised on sprawling Texas land, Margaret O'Brien prides herself on her competence as a rancher. But her father believes she's made for more than just dawn-to-dusk work. He wants her to have the love of a good man, to raise children, to build a life. But Margaret gave up such dreams years ago. She's convinced no man would have her, that the ranch is her life now.
So when Margaret's father hires Daniel Cutler as a new foreman, she's frustrated and suspicious. Then an overheard conversation links him with a gang of bank robbers, and she's downright worried. Daniel swears he's not involved, but Margaret's not convinced. She knows the man still has secrets. But would a criminal be so kind and talk so convincingly of his faith? As a series of tragic "accidents" threatens all she holds dear, Margaret must decide what to trust: her own ears, her best judgment . . . or what her heart keeps telling her.
 My Thoughts:
Colleen Coble was one of the first Christian novelists I fell in love with. Her books continue to draw me in and speak to my heart. We can be safe in God's arms with His love for us. He has a purpose for our lives, something Margaret wrestles with just as many of us do.

Margaret is most at home ranching on her father's large TX ranch. Her fiery red hair braided, dirt under her nails and wearing pants. Her father wants Margaret to marry and have a family of her own so he takes away her responsiblity and hires Daniel as the new foreman without even a mention to Margaret.

She is not one bit happy with this man coming in and taking over things, and then add fuel to the fire her, Father brings cousin Lewis on the scene to help as well. Margaret's identity is upheaved as she must learn to find a life outside of the ranch. Feeling insecure in her own skin, she doubts any man will ever want her for a wife. Much of her insecurities come because of a lack of relationship with God. Something I think all of us can feel at times.
Colleen Coble has a way of writing a historical fiction novel, and pull us in to relate with the characters. It doesn't matter the time or the place, we all desire to be safe in His arms.
