We have lived in our new home for almost a year now. One main thing I have neglected to do this year, find a dentist! It all started when we were in OH and our wonderful pediatric dentist moved.
All dentists are not created equal, you have your pediatric, your Sugar land cosmetic dentist, your plastic surgeon, your family practice dentist, orthodontist, etc. We loved him; he was so wonderful with the kids and gentle and not scary at all! I know adults find going to the dentist to be a daunting task, and I didn’t want the kids to feel that so I specifically sought out a pediatric dentist. We had him for 5 year, and then we moved 30 miles away but it was still worth it for me to make the drive, so we had him for another 4 years until his move took it to almost an hour and a half away. I knew we would be moving out of state so I just decided to wait. Well once you get out of the habit, you really get out of the habit I guess.
I am looking for a dentist the first of the year, and a bit sad that there isn’t any pediatric ones nearby. My kids are getting older now though, so hopefully those formidable years spent with a ‘fun’ dentist will allow them to move easily into switching to a family dentist. I am fearful of the bills that will ensue after missing for a year.. Note to self, get back into the habit of visiting the dentist with all of the children every 6 months.
