It's Snowing by Gail Gibbons
Gail Gibbons is one of the best authors at creating non-fiction picture books for children, that capture the imagination. We have several books by her and if we are studying a specific theme, I tend to see if there are any books at the library on that subject written by her.
This latest one I have reviewed is about snow! Teaching young children where the snow comes from, how it falls, and even ways to prepare in case of a snow storm. Geared for ages 4-8, this is easily one of the first books on helping 1st graders really understand the make up of snow.
Gail Gibbons illustrations are always exciting for me to look at! Such detail. She draws various ice crystals, noting that they come in different shapes and sizes. As those crystals attach to one another they make snow flakes. She discusses different types of snow fall; flurries, sleet, snowstorm, and blizzards.
She includes snow facts in the back of the book along with some great ideas to get out there and enjoy the snow!
Almost makes me wish it was snowing!!
I received a copy of this book from Holiday House in exchange for an honest review.
