Mate Factor Fresh Yerba Mate

The yerba mate plant, which is really a tree, is an evergreen from the Holly family that grows in the subtropical forests of South America. Mate Factor gets its yerba mate from Brazil. Many yerba mate companies age the yerba mate for 1-2 years before packaging. As is traditional in Brazil, Mate Factor packages it's yerba mate as freshly as possible to preserve nutritional benefits. In addition to freshness, Mate Factor also used organic yerba mate from near the forest region where no chemicals have been sprayed. You can see and taste the difference in Mate Factor!

Yerba Maté is a drink native to South America. Though Yerba Mate is similar to Green Tea in its health benefits, Yerba Mate is much higher in nutritional value. Yerba Mate contains 27% more active nutritional compounds & many times more antioxidants than green tea.

It doesn't give me the jitters like coffee tends to do each morning. As I am transitioning out of the soda pop venue, the yerba mate came at a great time. Nicely flavored and does taste very similar to tea. Richer in flavor than many teas I have tried. I love how much nutrition I am getting in just one cup as well as the slow energy release. I have been enjoying a cup of Fresh Yerba Mate each afternoon when I start getting the sleepy eyes. I have been brewing it and then pouring over ice for a nice cool, energizing drink. Some studies have even shown yerba mate to help with weight loss!

Mate Factor has a wealth of information on their website about Yerba Mate and the entire process of taking it from the tree to the bag. Super detailed info if you would like to read more!

They sell loose leaf and tea bags. Tradition has it that they originally drank yerba mate from a gourd. Now that would be something I would love to try! My husband was recently in Brazil for a business trip and I only wish I had known about yerba mate while he was there (though his work schedule was so packed he wouldn't have been able to do anything with that info!)

24 large tea bags in each box for $5.95. That is a super price for organic fresh yerba mate!
