If Fried Chicken Could Fly Book Review

If Fried Chicken Could Fly
Paige Shelton

After the death of Gram’s 2nd husband, she decides to follow her dream of opening a cooking school in her small Missouri town, Broken Rope. Granddaughter Betts, law school dropout is assisting Gram in her endeavor. The participants are getting ready for the big tourist event, The Southern Missouri Showdown Cook-off.

Finding local theater owner Everett in the school’s supply closet- DEAD, is throwing a wrench in the plans for sure. Especially when all fingers seem to be pointing to Grams!
Broken Rope Missouri is well known for its mysterious and bizare deaths. Now one of those deceased, Jerome Cowbender plans to help Bett’s prove her Grandmother’s innocence. Well his ghost does anyhow! With the help of town historian and best friend Jake, Betts is able to put the pieces together.

Cozy Mystery is a genre all in its own. Not as intense as thrillers or major suspense, just enough to keep you turning the pages. The characters are more developed and the relationships of the characters plays more of a role. I love these cozy mysteries and Paige Shelton’s are fantastic! I love how she takes a unique setting like a cooking school in a small town and sets up such an incredible mystery!
