Sandy Savard Artist Review and Giveaway

Sandy Savard, Artist

Meet Sandy through her Etsy Site Intro

"Although I began my working days as a Mechanical Engineer, I consider myself an artist. I've always been creative, with many hobbies. Drawing, painting, cross stitching, crocheting, sewing and scrapbooking in my spare time. I began my faux finishing career in 1995, just helping out some family and friends with some painting projects. It quickly snowballed into more business than I could keep up with! Although I still love painting, walls, ceilings and trim, I can't stay young forever and continue to climb scaffolding to paint 2 story ceilings.
So, I've taken my years of experience in decorative painting, drinking wine and various other hobbies and combined them into my online shop. I think a lot about being green and recycling, upcycling and repurposing, although I’m not always perfect."

I first discovered Savard Studios when I was searching for recycled and upcycled jewelry. I love the concept of taking something old and cast off and creating something artistic and wearable from it. Sandy takes washers (much like my hubby has in the garage) paints them and creates gorgeous necklaces with them. Simple circle design, painted and decoupaged with french script. Elegant in it's simplicity. I am not a baubles and beads type of girl, more of a simple jewelry wearer and this piece was perfect for that! Being a washer it was a little bit heavier than some necklaces. It wasn't really a bit deal for me as I am a tough gal, but some dainty little things may be weighted down by it :) I am looking forward to seeing what other designs and ideas comes from Savard Studios in the near future. I am sure Sandy has ideas swirling around in her artistic brain.

Sandy not only utilizes her artistic talent for jewelry, she also upcycles furniture and home decor.

I am wearing my favorite washer necklace now. It's gold variegated with blue beads. I love it! I also have a red/purple/pink washer necklace that I wear often. It goes well with purple and pink. My necklaces always get noticed and people want to know where I bought it. They are super original!
